Local students created fiscal impact study for Town of Bayfield
Fort Lewis College students, under the direction of Economics Professor Deborah Walker, completed a fiscal impact study for the Town of Bayfield regarding allowing marijuana businesses in the town. They presented their results to the Town Board and residents of Bayfield on Thursday, May 24 at the Bayfield Town Hall.

Local students attended SACNAS National Convention
Thirty four FLC students, along with two FLC faculty members, attended the SACNAS (Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science) National Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 19-21, 2017. The students' trip to the conference was funded by NIH program SSNAP (Science Scholars: The Native American Path).

Founded in 1991, the Fort Lewis College Environmental Center (EC) is a campus organization committed to working for environmental sustainability and social justice both at Fort Lewis College and in the Durango community. Local students attended leadership conference for resident assistants
Student Housing and Conference Services recently sent eight resident assistants to RAppin', an annual leadership conference for RAs at institutions throughout the Rocky Mountain region. The conference gave RA staff an opportunity to learn from and network with numerous campuses, bringing new ideas for programming and services back to campus.

Students serve as resident assistants at Fort Lewis College
Each year, Fort Lewis College chooses a group of highly motivated students to serve as Resident Assistants. Resident Assistants are student staff members who live on a floor in a college residence hall to serve as primary resources for information and assistance. The objectives of Resident Assistants are to exhibit a concern for others and relate in a positive manner to the students. They are responsible for creating a living environment that is conducive to the academic mission of the College, maintaining the safety of the facility, and assisting the student in their college experiences.
